Abstract

The electrophoretic mobility of a isolated spherical colloid particle subject to an oscillating electric field is analyzed in the limit of high frequencies by the technique of matched asymptotic expansions. The effect of mobile Stern layer ions is also included in the analysis. The resulting expressions can be used to compute the mobility and conductivity in the regime where direct numerical solutions encounter difficulties.
