Higher symmetries of two-dimensional lattices

Abstract

A general algebraic approach to the problem of nonlocal dynamical variables in the theory of 2D nonlinear lattices is discussed. The approach is based on the study of an infinite dimensional Lie algebra of vector-fields which are defined straightforwardly by the lattice equations, without using auxiliary linear problems.
