Abstract
A simple formula is given for the current voltage characteristics of abrupt heterojunctions with a blocking barrier for the majority carriers in the highly doped region: The meaning of the denominator, which acts as a shape factor of the characteristic, is discussed. This description replaces the one related to the exponential AkT-factor and can be directly interpreted as function of physical junction parameters, such as s.,μn and space-charge-, e.g. donor- density.
