Abstract

AbstractThe key to seismic signal processing is the high‐resolution stack velocity spectrum. A novel high‐resolution velocity determination technique with signal estimation and detection technique is proposed. The common depth point (CDP) gather can be modeled into an integration of curve clusters whose shape is decided by the velocity and the time of zero offset, and amplitudes along the curve vary with the offset in relation to the AVO property. A model optimum technique is used to estimate the AVO parameters. The error between the true signal and its estimation measures the possibility of the velocity parameter. This new measure can more effectively utilise velocity information in the waveform. The proposed method is tested using both synthetic and field data. In both cases, a significant improvement in the time‐velocity resolution with strong noise repellent was obtained.
