Abstract

The investigation of the lineshape of core-valence-valence Auger spectra of adsorbed molecules by means of angle resolved x-ray induced Auger spectroscopy leads to a detailed understanding of the Auger fine structure. Starting out with this information, a number of different applications for high resolution Auger spectroscopy become possible. Here we will present examples for the determination of the geometrical orientation of molecules, the investigation of the local valence electronic density and the understanding of the evolution of core holes in adsorbate systems.
