Abstract
Abstract Composite magnetic powders based on the coexistence of a hard Nd 2 Fe 14 B phase and soft α-Fe have been produced by mechanical alloying and subsequent heat treatment. In order to optimize the microstructure, the influence of different additions to a Nd 8 Fe 88 B 4 -based composition has been investigated. For additions of Zr and Si, remanences of around 1.1 T were obtained together with coercive fields of μ 0 H c = 0.4–0.43 T .
