Abstract

Highly efficient blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes were developed using a benzothienopyridine based host material with an asymmetric molecular structure. 3-(3-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)benzothieno[2,3-b]pyridine (BTP1) was used as the asymmetric host material for the solution processed blue devices. The BTP1 host showed a smooth morphology with a surface roughness of 0.30nm and high quantum efficiency of 14.5% in blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes.
