Abstract
This paper introduces a method to generate high quality Chinese fonts for desktop publishing through an automatic process. The main idea of this process is to employ a computer vision based method to convert a manual font library on paper into concise computer representations. The conversion process consists of 4 stages: image smoothing, boundary detection, corner detection and image regeneration. The algorithms, implementation and results are presented in the paper.
