Abstract

Piezotronic and piezophototronic devices have high performance due to the coupling of piezoelectric and semiconductor properties. Strain-induced polarization can effectively modulate the energy band structure and electrical conductivity in low-dimensional structures. In this study, piezotronic effect on the thermoelectric properties of MoS2 zigzag nanoribbons is theoretically investigated. The thermoelectric efficiency (ZT) and Seebeck coefficient of piezotronic thermoelectric devices can be increased by 44 times and 6 times, respectively. This work not only investigates piezotronic effect on thermoelectric properties, but also paves a new way to design high-performance thermoelectric devices.
