Abstract
Mixed electric and magnetic (EM) coupling hairpin-comb resonators and their applications in third- and fifth-order bandpass filters are presented in this paper. By adjusting the coupling lengths and the distances between the resonators, the coupling coefficient can be changed to desired values. Meanwhile, the mixed EM coupling contributes to a controllable transmission zero. Design and fabrication of the proposed third- and fifth-order filters show the advantages. N–1 transmission zeros are realized by N resonators without cross-coupling or source-load coupling. The selectivity of passband is outstanding. The locations of the transmission zeros can be precisely described. Moreover, it is convenient to design high-order inline filter with quasielliptic response.
