Abstract
In this paper, a compact third-order balanced filter with quasi-elliptic function response is synthesized based on mixed electric and magnetic(EM) coupled stepped-impedance resonators(SIRs). The filter has enhanced differential-mode(DM) transmission response since two DM transmission zeros(TZs) are generated on both sides of the passband. Existence of these two TZs is investigated by the mixed EM coupling while one more TZ is introduced by the length of feedline. The three-pole balanced filter is then designed and synthesized according to the extracted coupling coefficient and external quality. Finally, simulation results of the proposed filter show good performances such as extended DM upper-stopband rejection, high common-mode(CM) suppression and compact size.
