Abstract

The high humidity response of the sol–gel-synthesized ZnFe2O4 films was discovered, which was characterized through the relative humidity (RH) influence on the electric parameters of capacitance, impedance and resistance. As the RH increased from 30% to 90%, both the impedance and resistance of the ZnFe2O4 films, decreased by ∼2–3 orders of magnitude. This might be due to the physical adsorption and polarization of water molecules on the ZnFe2O4 surface. The high humidity response of ZnFe2O4 films has potential application in humidity sensitive devices.
