Abstract

On the basis of the general principles of quantum field theory, renormalization group approach and two additional assumptions, the asymptotic behaviours of the proton-proton scattering amplitude are studied in different asymptotic regions. It is shown that the Regge behaviour is possible in some cases and impossible in others. It all depends on how the invariant coupling constant\(g^ - \)(τ) tends to the limit value as τ → + ∞. In the case when the Regge behaviour takes place, the values of Regge-trajectory function and Regge cut att = −∞ are defined by the characteristics of the renormalization group. The possible large-t scaling of the scattering amplitude and the light-cone singularities are also considered and discussed.
