Abstract

Objective To explore the clinic value of high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin for children with severe H1N1 influenza infection.Methods The data on 50 children with confirmed diagnosis who had been hospitalized during June to December 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.The children were divided equally into the high-dose group and the control group based on the dosage of immunoglobulin use.The clinical improvement was analyzed chi-square test and then compared with the reference of existing literatures.Results The baseline clinical features did not differ significantly between the two groups; however,there were significant differences in the improvement of symptoms,signs,and chest radiographic appearance between the high-dose group and the control group.Conclusions High-dose intravenous immunoglobulin is effective in improving the clinical symptoms and signs in children with severe H1N1 influenza infection.
