Abstract

Background and Aims: Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) increases survival in individuals with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), this population faces an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). There is mounting evidence that high-density lipoprotein (HDL) function and subclasses are altered in the presence of cardiovascular risk factors. We aimed to explore whether HIV and/or ART modulate HDL subclasses and function in an HIV-infected population.
