Abstract

The demand for high strength steel ranges from 750 to 1200 MPa in automobile industries to reduce cost, and fuel consumption and increase safety. Stress- controlled high cycle fatigue (HCF) tests for HS1000 steel sheets in transverse direction were conducted to determine the fatigue limit. Cycle softening process occurs in HS1000 steel sheet. Based on controlled material data, HS1000 steel sheet is compared with more common steel grades. The fatigue limit of HS1000 steel sheets is much higher than that of lower strength structural steel and has comparable ductility and high fatigue strength.
