Abstract
Carrier aggregation (CA) is an effective approach to achieve high transmission rate and wideband communication, which are the significant features of Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A). Component carrier (CC) selection plays an important role in CA technology. An appropriate CC selection method is necessary to improve the system performance in terms of load balancing and channel quality. A Hierarchy Based Component Carriers Selection (HCS) is proposed for homogeneous scenarios in LTE-A. In this scheme, microeconomic model is used to identify the status of CCs in order to make sure that all the CCs aggregated are in good quality. Al the CCs and eNBs are graded so as to carry out the aggregation in corresponding hierarchy. Macro cell downlink system level simulation is utilized to evaluate the performance of the proposed HCS scheme. Simulation results demonstrate that the HCS scheme outperforms the traditional ones from the aspects of both load balancing and channel quality.
