Abstract

Hierarchical zeolites have drawn great attentions recently because of their combination of better molecule transport merit of the mesoporous structure and the precise molecule sieving capability of zeolite crystals. Their unique advantages re- cently stimulated rapid development and broad applications in biomass conversion and/or biofuels upgrading. Here we sum- marized the synthesis routes of these mesoporous zeolites, including post-treatment, hard template, and soft template synthesis. Their synthesis mechanisms are summarized here, together with remarks on their advantages and drawbacks. Their applications in biomass catalytic conversion and high quality fuel feedstock production were also discussed.
