Abstract

Template-containing borosilicate hierarchical zeolites with MTW (nanorods) and BEA (nanosheets or nanoparticles) topology, prepared using Gemini-type surfactant, tested as catalysts in cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to styrene epoxides for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates. The studied samples showed a rather high catalytic activity in this reaction, the maximum values of conversion, selectivity, and yield were 96,0, 97,9, and 87,8%, respectively. The concentration of available ammonium groups, as well as the replacement of chlorine and bromine ions with iodine, led to an increase in conversion, and neutralization of Brønsted acid sites - to an increase in selectivity for the target product.
