Abstract

Modeling an accurate coupling circuit model of generator stator windings with partial discharge (PD) detector is significant for researching the coupling characteristics and optimum structure of PD detector. The partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method has been applied successfully to model the electrical properties of high-speed interconnect. It can model some interconnecting or coupling structures in great detail and some crudely, and the PEEC model can be combined with other circuit model (like transistor model) into an input circuit for a circuit simulator like PSpice. In this paper, a new model for pulse propagation in generator stator winding bar is developed on the basis of partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method; then considering the partial discharge (PD) detector-SSC an integrative coupling circuit model is researched for the first time. The partial inductance matrix and partial capacitance matrix in the models are calculated by using PEEC theory and FastModel - a special calculating software developed by MIT. The consistency between the experiment results and the simulation results shows that the circuit models and the parameters are correct.
