Abstract
A heuristic approach is proposed to solve material balance control problems for chemical plants. The heuristics are derived from structural and controllability analysis and validated through simulation cases. First, the plant analysis is decomposed into two parts: a reaction section and a separation section. Second, these two sections are combined to evaluate the heuristic procedure implementation to solve a plant-wide control problem. Some control structure designs based on the proposed heuristic procedure are tested in the Tennessee Eastman Case Study.
