Abstract

General protein metabolism of cells within the simple liver acinus was studied with radioautography. Rats were injected with 3H leucine and at various times thereafter a sample of their liver was prepared for radioautography. Analysis of the radioautograms revealed that cells near terminal portal venulcs incorporated and lost radioactivity faster than other cells. It was concluded that these cells represent all area of increased protein metabolism in the liver.
