Abstract

The article reflects on the significance of a special memorable - anniversary - date from the birthday of the outstanding Russian statesman, reformer and jurist Mikhail Mikhailovich Speransky (1772-1839). The authors show the importance of the commemorative practices associated with this event, which have a significant pedagogical effect, as well as the ongoing controversy over the reform of legal education. Due to the continuity of the discussion on how to improve the systematic training of legal personnel, the stability of interest in this problem on the part of a professional corporation, society, and the state, the scientific category of metadiscourse was used to characterize the controversy. The latter, as shown in the specialized literature, is an integral part of scientific and artistic discourses. The authors pay special attention to the situation around the history of political and legal doctrines - science and academic discipline, traditionally included in educational standards, as well as university and faculty curricula. Within the framework of this discipline, in addition to other historical-legal and philosophical-legal courses, the ideas of M.M. Speransky were comprehended by future lawyers for many decades. The possibilities of introducing different layers of Jubilee's heritage, including the epistolary one, into the educational process are demonstrated. Attention is focused on students' projects related to the research of the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire - one of the acts of large-scale systematization of domestic legislation.
