Abstract

Personality, intelligence and perception of parental behavior in 50 hemophilic boys is compared to same aspects of 50 healthy controls of same age, sex, number and rank order siblings and SES. Both groups do not differ. There is no increased frequency of neurotic disorders according to Eysenck's classification and of perceived maternal over-protective behavior among hemophilic boys. Furthermore the correspondence of physical handicap and personality is studied. Severe physical handicap is related to lower scores of extraversion and high scores of neuroticism. Findings are discussed in regard to interaction of physical and psychological handicap.
