Abstract
The goal of medical supports is to protect the cellular and intercellular homeostatic status, and to repair if damaged. Alternative or complementary medical methods, therapeutic action mechanisms are generally the approaches which have not been scientifically proven. Most of these methods based on a belief or experience still have an assumption characteristic. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have a scientific mechanism. Many physicians, patients, even healthy individuals wonder, care and want to try these methods all over the world. Traditional and complementary medical methods are undeniable reality, sometimes compulsory part of life even if the findings related to their effects are not sufficient. Such practices are becoming increasingly common because of the reasons such as strengthening the patient's immune system by making him feel well, paying attention to pharmacoeconomic consciousness and patient’s preference. It is a post-modern necessity to put the alternative and complementary medicinal approaches into practise in medicine and veterinary medicine. Therefore, studies that conjugate alternative and complementary medicinal methods with conventional methods must be supported by sustainable policies. This study also aims to develop a consciousness map for alternative, holistic and traditional medical approaches. The Symposium on Licensing of Traditional and Complementary Medical Products to be carried out by TUBA in December may be an important and first step in this context.
