Heavy-meson spectra with a new phenomenological potential

Abstract

We calculate the energy spectra of the ψ family of mesons, the Υ family and a possible new ζ family, using the quark model with a Coulomb-like potential at small distances and a linear potential at large distances, both modified by logarithmic factors. We also calculate the leptonic-decay widths of vector mesons of these families. We include the effects of spin-dependent forces in perturbation theory. In the case of the ψ and Υ families, we compare the predictions of the model with experiment.
