Abstract

Abstract The heats of mixing of 1,3-butanediol and ethanol with methylethylketone have been measured. The results obtained for these two systems have been compared with each other, and it has been found that there exist a considerable number of intramolecular hydrogen bonds of butanediol molecules in the ketone medium. For the ethanol-methylethylketone system, the energy of the intermolecular hydrogen bond with ketone has been estimated to be about 4kcal. by using the thermochemical cycle; this value is nearly the same as those obtained for other monoalcohol-ketone systems in the previous paper.1)
