Abstract
The possibility of using waste of coal combustion (hollow aluminosilicate microspheres, HASM) as a material for fabricating heat-insulating radiotransparent articles and coatings is considered. The effect of binders and technological factors on the physical and thermal properties of compositions based on HASM is investigated. The technological parameters for manufacturing HASM-base heat-insulating articles with a stable low thermal conductivity and radiotransparent articles by molding from semidry mixtures and by pouring are determined, which makes it possible to produce articles of a complicated configuration. The service temperature of such articles is 1000 – 1100°C. HASM are used for developing protective heat-insulating coatings for graphite-containing products.
