Abstract

Experimental investigations on the local and average heat transfer from a square prism to an air stream were carried out in the range of subcritical Reynolds numbers. The average heat transfer coefficients at the angles of attack α = 0° and 45° were as high as 40% of the well-known values of Hilpert. The average heat transfer has a minimum value at α = 12°–13° and a maximum one at α = 20°–25°. Characteristics of the average and local heat transfer were made clear in connection with the flow characteristics.
