Abstract
Steady-state temperature profiles in turbulent He II forced flow in a heated tube in the temperature range 1.6–2.0 K are measured and compared with calculated profiles based on the two-fluid model with vortex lines and mutual friction. To make measured and calculated profiles agree, a vortex line density component that is created by normal fluid turbulence, even in the absence of mean thermal counterflow, is postulated.
