Abstract

Results are presented of experimental investigations of heat transfer in the neighborhood of the stagnation point in flow of a turbulent gas over bodies. It is assumed that the outer flow is capable of rendering the boundary layer turbulent over the whole body surface, i.e., the hypothesis is invoked that there is a turbulent stagnation point. Using the method of integral relations [1] and the flat plate heat-transfer law, transformed in such a way as to satisfy the heat-transfer conditions at the stagnation point, simple formulas have been obtained for calculating the heat flux.
