Abstract

High Frequency Induction Welded (HFIW) pipes with one longitudinal seam has the potential to replace the seamless pipes in the oil and gas industry. The heat-input factor (i.e., welding power to line speed ratio) and squeeze force are important manufacturing input parameter to control the quality of HFIW pipes. This study found increase in heat input factor led to an increased tensile strength and toughness in HFIW pipes with a compromise in hardness in the weld zone.
