Abstract

In order to improve the security of biometric, a heart sound identification system is discussed in this paper. By introducing the Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) feature extraction and Vector Quantization (VQ) matching model algorithm, the heart sound is shown to apply to human identification. For illustration, an identification system using PC's sound card and electronic stethoscope to record heart sound signals is developed in LabVIEW. Empirical results show that the system gets a high accurate identification rate. The heart sound identification system based on MFCC feature extraction and VQ matching model can effectively solve the insecurity of biometric identification and will become a new identification method.
