Abstract

To the Editor:— The House of Delegates of the American Medical Association recently adopted the recommendations of the Council on Medical Services: That every institution of higher learning should have, as a part of general education, a health education program for all students. That health education should be appropriately related to the college physicians and health services with continuing medical collaboration in health education problems. That health educators should be thoroughly prepared and qualified in the health sciences with all teaching personnel brought into proper focus as members of the health team. That the department charged with primary responsibility for health education should possess sufficient resources and staff with teaching competence to carry out its educational mission without a division of interests detracting from the importance of health education. 1 The University of Utah requires of every student before graduation a one-quarter-hour course in personal health.
