Abstract
Abstract Procedures and tests are described whereby it is shown that radium in ferrous metal scrap is virtually all removed in the slag on remelting. The smelting of radium-contaminated ferrous scrap can be performed with safety for the workers by use of proper ventilation and other simple precautions. The purified ferrous metal will not constitute a radiation problem to health from subsequent uses of the metal.
