Abstract

Cementum and the cemento-dentinal junction has been a subject of debate for long. Here, the author has demonstrated an unreported technique to harvest cementum from the surface of the root surface of human teeth and also reviewed literature with respect to the cemento-dentinal junction. The method was based on the conclusion that the tissue between radicular dentin and cementum is an enamel-like hypermineralized tissue. The demineralization protocol reported demineralises the hypermineralized intermediate tissue and this dissolution unlocks the junction releasing the cementum from the radicular dentin surface. The cementum is separated as sock or in shreds and the observations reported.
