Abstract

AbstractPM motor drives are widely used for high‐performance servo applications. However, the PM motor has an imperfect sinusoidal flux distribution which causes harmonic currents. Inverter dead time and current measurement error also lead to harmonic currents. The repetitive control method has been applied to current suppression. For repetitive control based on the internal model principle, the harmonic suppression characteristics are excellent. However, interharmonic components are amplified. The interharmonic components have frequencies that are nonintegral multiples of the fundamental frequency. Therefore, feedforward compensation is applied for the harmonic currents to improve the suppression characteristic. The authors propose harmonic current suppression control of a PM motor in αβ coordinates by using repetitive perfect tracking control with the PWM‐hold model. The advantages of the proposed method are shown by simulations and experiments. 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
