Abstract

A solution to the development of hardware for realtime signal processing applications using an existing Unix-based microprocessor development system is described. The system used is based upon a single special purpose digital signal processor controlled by a general purpose microprocessor. The modularity of the approach allows the possibility of control of several signal processing modules performing concurrent tasks. A particularly attractive feature of this development system is that it may be extended at low cost to accommodate new processors as they become available from manufacturers.
