Abstract
Introduction: Typically, isokinetic muscle performance is assessed by measuring the peak or angle-specific torque; yet, another distinct aspect of muscle performance relates to torque steadiness—that is, the ability to control muscle force output. Following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and surgery, hamstrings force steadiness may reflect dynamic joint stability. Procurement of the combined semitendinosus and gracilis tendon (STGT) graft as an ACL substitute – because the insult incurred to the medial hamstring musculotendinous unit – may potentially alter the hamstrings ability to control muscle force output.
