Abstract

The reactions of ethynide dianionic ligand, 1-iodo-3,5-bis(prop-2-ynyloxy)benzene (H2L), and silver(I) trifluorocarboxylate under solvent evaporation conditions yielded two silver(I)-ethynide complexes, namely, [(Ag2L)2(AgCF3CO2)4(H2O)2] n (1) and [(Ag2L)4(AgCF3CO2)3] n (2). In 1, two types of Ag12 aggregates are fused into silver(I) columns through vertex-sharing and edge-sharing, which are further linked through interchain weak Ag···I and F···I halogen bonding into a 3D supramolecular network. In 2, Ag22 aggregates are bridged by two L ligands to form an infinite chain, and then such chains are interconnected by relatively weak C–H···F hydrogen bond to generate a two-dimensional network.
