Abstract
The gut microbiome is an important regulator of health and disease. The report by Hino et al. suggests that damage to the microbiome, inflicted before and soon after allogeneic haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation, does not heal by itself, most likely with consequences for late transplantation outcomes.
