Abstract
Network management has become a vital feature for telecommunications service providers and equipment manufacturers. This paper presents a two-piece design and implementation of the telecommunications management network (TMN) recommendations of ITU utilized in the digital cellular mobile telecommunications system, global system for mobile communications (GSM). The subscriber administration of the network and switching sub-system (NSS) from the operations system (OS) was accomplished by utilizing the TMN concept on top of a general purpose TMN agent platform in the NSS. The design and implementation of the general purpose TMN agent platform was done to accomplish a well behaving and easily extendable environment to be used in wide variety of telecommunications applications.
