Abstract

Er 3+:Li 2Gd 4(MoO 4) 7 crystal with dimensions of ∅20×25 mm 3 was grown by the Czochralski method. The thermal properties of Er 3+:Li 2Gd 4(MoO 4) 7 crystal were investigated. The spectroscopic properties of Er 3+:Li 2Gd 4(MoO 4) 7 crystal were investigated. Based on the Judd–Ofelt theory, the oscillator strength parameters Ω t and radiative lifetimes were calculated. The emission cross-sections and gain emission cross-section were calculated. In comparison with other Er 3+-doped crystals, Er 3+:Li 2Gd 4(MoO 4) 7 crystal may be regarded as a potential solid-state laser host material.
