Abstract

Two tests were conducted with four pots each of Irish Cobbler potatoes in gravel culture to observe the growth response from supplying their roots with air mixtures containing less than normal proportion of oxygen. Treatments were restricted to the short period of growth extending from the time the seed pieces could be removed to the time the new tubers became large enough to bulge up the paraffine layer used for surface seal on the gravel.
