Abstract
Growth by liquid phase epitaxy and luminescence properties of the phosphors based on single crystalline films (SCF) of the R 3 Al 5 O 12 ( R = Lu , Yb, Tb, Eu–Y) garnets are studied. The possible mechanisms of SCF crystallization of the mentioned garnets on Y 3 Al 5 O 12 (YAG) substrates at the significant mismatch ( - 0.093 A ˚ < Δ a < + 0.10 A ˚ ) of lattice parameters of substrate and SCF are considered. Formation of the transition layers between the SCF and YAG substrate for reducing mismatch of their lattice parameters are demonstrated.
