Abstract
Bulk single crystals of neodymium iron garnet and praseodymium iron garnet were prepared for the first time by low temperature liquid phase epitaxy on Sm 3(ScGa) 5O 12 seeds with nearly matching lattice parameters. The measured properties of NdIG were: lattice parameter = 12.596 Å, Curie temperature = 294°C, and 4π M s = 2080 Oe. PrIG has a lattice parameter of 12.646 Å, a Curie temperature of 296°C, and 4π M s = 2065 Oe.
