Growth of La-doped Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O z single crystals by a self-flux method

Abstract

We prepared Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O z (Bi-2212) single crystals using the starting materials with the compositions of Bi 2Sr 2− x La x CaCu 2O z ( x=0–0.3) and Bi 2Sr 2Ca 1− y La y Cu 2O z ( y=0–0.3) in a self-flux method, and investigated the characteristics of the single crystals. From the results, we found that the T c and the composition of the single crystals prepared using Bi 2Sr 2− x La x CaCu 2O z were different from those prepared using Bi 2Sr 2Ca 1− y La y Cu 2O z . Therefore, probably there are two kinds of La-doped Bi-2212 single crystals, where La occupies Sr or Ca site.
