Abstract

The elongated tetrahexahedral (ETHH) Au nanoparticles (NPs) with exposed high-index facets have been prepared in high yield by using a binary system of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) as a surfactant in one-step seed-mediated growth. Structure analysis revealed that the ETHH Au particles possessed 24 high-index faces of {140}, {210}, and {301}. Due to the large density of atomic steps on the surface, the ETHH Au NPs showed enhanced catalytic activity towards electro-oxidation of glucose.
