Abstract

We prepared Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O y (Bi-2212) single crystals by a modified vertical Bridgman method, in which crucibles were rotated during crystal growth, and investigated the effects of the temperature gradient and the rotation speed of crucibles on the crystal growth. When we carried out the crystal growth at the temperature gradient of around 4.0°C/mm and rotation speed of about 25 rpm, large plate-like Bi-2212 single crystals with good crystallinity were obtained.
