Abstract
Background: Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 6 (HNF6) is a liver enriched transcription factor regulating numerous target genes important in liver homeostatic function. HNF6 has several binding sites to the promoter region of cyclin D1 which regulates G0-S phase cell cycle entry, suggesting that HNF-6 can also regulate hepatocyte proliferation. Prior work in our laboratory has shown that GH administration enhances hepatic HNF6 expression and can be used as an vivo model to increase HNF6 mediated transcriptional activation of its target genes.
